Lake Idro is one of the smaller lakes of northern Italy, with a length of 12 km and a width of 1.90 km. This lovely lake is located between the popular Lake Garda and the less known Lake Iseo. It is also one of the cleanest lakes in Italy. It is surrounded by vast forests and high mountains. There is not much tourism yet and there is still a real rural atmosphere in the villages on the lake. These villages have stood the test of time well and to a large extent retain the original Medieval architecture.
Due to the ideal mix of mountains and water, Lake Idro is a paradise for surfers, mountaineers and fishermen. Also peace seekers and hikers get their money’s worth in this beautiful, natural environment. In the summer season the pebble beaches and the clear water (with a pleasant temperature) of the lake are popular with swimmers.
Thanks to the constant wind, Lake Idro is also an ideal destination for lovers of sailing, windsurfing and other water sports. In the surrounding mountains there are also opportunities for hang gliding, paragliding and mountaineering.
